CBO Maintenance Header

Dear ClientBase Customer,

This is the final notice that support for lower TLS versions is being turned off May 1, 2018. Our deadline given for the TLS upgrade of March 31, 2018 has past and we can not wait any longer. Our support desk has been reaching out to agencies that have had challenges with this in previous upgrades in an attempt to minimize the impact to your daily operations. Please be advised your ClientBase sync will stop on May 1, 2018 if the steps below have not been taken. This could affect your sync for marketing, sync to CBO or Branch to Branch Sync.

Support has found that if you have the right hardware and operating systems for TLS 1.2 described in the FAQ about the TLS upgrade creating and using a functional user with a non-expiring password with your scheduled task has worked to get your sync running again. We have outlined the steps below. If you would prefer to have help from the support desk please contact us to walk you through the process.

Steps to create a new Windows user:

  1. Login to the server running the sync scheduled task as an Administrator.
  2. Open Computer Management with pressing Win + X.
  3. In the console tree, click Users.
  4. Computer Management\System Tools\Local Users and Groups\Users
  5. On the Action menu, click New User.
  6. Type the appropriate information in the dialog box twice.
  7. Select or clear the check boxes for:
    • User must change password at next logon - Unchecked
    • User cannot change password - Unchecked
    • Password never expires - Checked
    • Account is disabled - Unchecked
  8. Click Create, and then click Close.

Logoff of Windows with the Admin user and log back in as the new user you just set up.

Enable TLS 1.2

Since TLS 1.2 is not automatically enabled on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, here are the quick steps to enable it from a user work station or the computer running your Sync scheduled task.

  • Open your Internet Explorer browser
  • Select Internet Options
  • Click on the Advanced Tab
  • Check "Use TLS 1.2" from the security grouping.

To verify TLS 1.2 has been enabled from the computer running Sync click on this link:
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html

You should see YES next to TLS 1.2 under "Protocol Features"

Change your scheduled task to use this new user

Finally, go to your Task Scheduler - found in your Control Panel Administrative Tools. Click the Task Scheduler Library on the left. Find your Sync task and double click on the sync scheduled task. Go to the General tab, click the "Change User or Group" button. Type the functional user login name into the "Enter the object name to select" field and click "Check Names". Click OK and you will be prompted for your password. Enter your password, click OK, and restart sync.

We remain committed to world-class security practices, and our support and sales teams are ready to assist our customers to prepare for compliance with minimal disruption.

Kind regards,
Your ClientBase Support Team
