The Ferry Building Marketplace
The Ferry Building Marketplace is a people's marketplace serving residents and travelers alike. Located within the historic Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street, shops large and small celebrate food in all its forms, offering everything from artisan cheeses to the freshest of local fish. Restaurants and cafés serve cuisine representing the quality and cultural diversity of San Francisco's best chefs. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is a California certified farmers market operated by the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA). The market is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Our Mission
We are very committed to the artisan food community and to fostering the values of that community here at the Ferry Building. We envision the Ferry Building Marketplace as a vibrant gathering of local farmers, artisan producers, and independently owned and operated food businesses and the customers they serve.
The Ferry Building Marketplace is located along the Embarcadero at the foot of Market Street. It is the center of a transit hub that connects all of San Francisco's neighborhoods and the surrounding bay communities. The marketplace is accessible by MUNI, BART and Ferry Boat. The historic trolley cars (Line F Market) stop directly in front of the Ferry Building.

The Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary
On May 27th 2012 the Golden Gate Bridge will celebrate its 75th Anniversary. The bridge is the result of the vision and energy of engineer Joseph Strauss to make the dream come true. When the 1.2-mile long suspension span opened in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge took its place among the technological and engineering wonders of the world.
Seventy-five years later, it remains a lasting symbol of American progress and ingenuity, beloved by our city and visited annually by millions of people from around the world. There will be special events all year leading up to the celebration Memorial Day Weekend May 26-27, 2012.

Originally built in 1928, the transformations in the San Francisco Union Square hotel's 416 guest rooms and lobby reveal a more stylish and sophisticated look and feel, which perfectly complement the traditional elements and original Gothic Revival and Regency architecture of the property. As guests make their way up the grand staircase into the lobby, their eyes will be immediately drawn to the striking crimson statue of Sir Francis himself, presiding over Bar Drake, keeping a watchful eye over his guests. Vibrant and chic décor and pops of color are interspersed with touches of the traditional, making Bar Drake the perfect spot to gather over handcrafted cocktails and noshes either at the bar or in the comfortable lounge style seating placed throughout.
The hotel has just completed a full renovation of rooms and lobby on September 2011.
The design of the new Sir Francis Drake, a Kimpton Hotel is a take on a classic-contemporary interpretation of the attitude and elegance of Sir Francis Drake's time period, woven into a modern fantasy that honors our Kimpton Grand Boutique roots. The design seeks to balance the look of our Union Square accommodations with the glamorous, regal architecture of the lobby and our public spaces. The rooms are a modern rendition of historically inspired pieces woven together into a collective tapestry the elaborate headboards, the art work, the carpet patterns, the jewel-toned color of the fabrics and even the slim dresser and oversized leaning mirror, all designed to create comfort. Harry Denton Starlight Room
Harry Denton's Starlight Room, San Francisco's iconic lounge on the 21st floor of Sir Francis Drake, a Kimpton Hotel is celebrating its reopening after a major remodel. The nightclub lounge, located in vibrant Union Square, has long been famed for its lush velvet d�cor, spectacular panoramic city views, and high-spirited host, namesake Harry Denton. The newly revealed redesign pays homage to the nightclub lounge's storied past, while celebrating with a present-day décor. The revamped cocktail program is designed by Joel Teitelbaum and a new bar menu has been created by acclaimed Executive Chef Jen Biesty of Scala's Bistro.
Harry Denton's Starlight Room is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 pm to 1 a.m.; Sunday for Sunday's a Drag brunch opening at 11 a.m for a noon show and open 1:30 p.m. for a 2 p.m. show
